Attention OH SHIPPERS,
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we have to inform you that the first departure of Oh Ship 2021 (10-13 Dec 2021) has been cancelled. We have been in constant communication with MSC Cruises considering the recent developments regarding the new COVID-19 variant and its impact on travel.
Given the rising numbers in COVID infections and the new Omicron COVID-19 variant, MSC Cruises regrettably have cancelled the entertainment theme on the Oh Ship cruise, scheduled to depart on 10 December 2021.
For health and safety reasons, as well as in accordance with government regulations on large gatherings and parties with alcohol, this cruise is now a 3-night cruise at sea (cruise to nowhere), without the planned entertainment. We and MSC Cruises take the safety of all our guests, crew and partners very seriously and therefore have had to make this difficult decision.
MSC Cruises have the following options available for you:
Please contact MSC Cruises on 087 630 0333 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know which option you would like to go with.
Please click on this link https://www.msccruises.co.za/news/msc-cruises-now-to-welcome-only-vaccinated-guests-in-south-africa to see the latest VERY IMPORTANT health and safety update from MSC Cruises.
On behalf of us, the Oh Ship organisers, and the entire MSC Cruises team we wish to extend our sincere appreciation for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you on board Oh Ship very soon.
The Oh Ship Team
MSC Cruises has published a press release today indicating that the cruise season will resume on 6 December 2021.
The delay to the season is attributable to MSC Cruises not receiving final guidelines from the government.
As mentioned above, the government have still yet to confirm the Health and Safety Protocols for cruising, which MSC Cruises are hoping to get soon. However, as previously communicated, OH SHIP supports the view of health authorities that vaccinations are at least prudent, and at best essential, in the fight against the pandemic.
Regarding the OH SHIP cruise, we believe that vaccinating would be in the interests of each individual and ultimately all passengers. We respect individuals’ rights to choose not to get vaccinated, however, we would strongly encourage passengers to get fully vaccinated before the cruise, for their and the other passengers’ safety and well-being, as well as protecting against changes in regulations.
Please note that non-vaccinated guests over the age of 18 years will additionally have to undergo an antigen lateral flow test at embarkation costing R300 per person.
Sooooooo, the GOOD news is that OH Ship 2021 is sailing! And we will be celebrating together on board the MSC Orchestra!
Due to challenges with COVID-19 and regulations currently in place, and through many internal discussions with MSC Cruises, we thought it best to split the 2 events.
This was done to ensure that Oh Ship is as successful as all previous Oh Ships, and to try to accommodate all Oh Shippers as best as possible.
So, for those Oh Shippers who are ready to celebrate in 7 weeks’ time, and for those Oh Shippers who need more time to prepare and plan for the BEST celebration of the year!
Due to changes in the commencement of the season, the new dates for Oh Ship 2021 are:
All Oh Shippers that are booked on the 26th November departure will automatically be moved to the 10th December departure.
All Oh Shippers that are booked on the 3rd December departure will automatically be moved to the 11th March departure.
Please note: there are still a few cabins available on both departures, so if you wish to move departure dates (on a first come, first served basis), please contact MSC Cruises on 087 630 0333 or email them at email@example.com to make the necessary changes.
As we are all aware, these are uncertain times for all of us, and the above is confirmed as of now, however, we cannot control if the South African Government locks us down again or enforces new restrictions. That being said, we advise all Oh Shippers who are booking flights and/or land arrangements to book under the most flexible conditions, as Oh Ship and MSC Cruises will not be liable for any costs incurred if any changes are necessary.
We TRULY apologise for the inconvenience caused, however, the circumstances are beyond our control.
Assuring you, Oh Shippers, of our BEST intention at all times!
ALL OH Shippers that have booked on Oh Ship 2021, will be receiving communication directly from MSC today, so please check your email.
Let’s start by saying the GOOD NEWS is that Oh Ship is sailing, so get ready to party!
Unfortunately, MSC Cruises has not yet received the health and safety guidelines from the government for the resumption of cruises in South Africa. As a result, MSC Cruises are not yet able to confirm the start date for the cruise season.
MSC Cruises is working with the government and we look forward to making an announcement in the near future.
In the interim, we ask that you do not make any travel arrangements for these cruises until such time that you have received formal communication from MSC Cruises.
Please be assured that OH SHIP WILL be taking place, it’s just a matter of when and how it looks from a Health and Safety perspective.
Dear OH SHIPPERS,
We have some good news to share with you regarding Oh Ship 2021!
Get ready for the party of the year!!

Please note: The final health and safety protocols haven’t been confirmed just yet, we are waiting for the government’s guidelines for the resumption of cruises in South Africa. We will notify you once they’ve been finalised, however OH SHIP supports the Presidents’ view to get vaccinated so that we can flatten the curve and party safely all weekend long!
MSC Cruises is working in close collaboration with the South African Government on getting approvals to sail, with very positive talks and discussions taking place.
Should the government not give approval by 15 October, we will inform you of the new dates for OH SHIP, so you can plan accordingly.
With regards to full payment, should MSC Cruises get approval to cruise between now and 15 October, they will request that you make full payment within 5 days from the date of approval.

Regarding the OH SHIP cruise, we believe that vaccinating would be in the interests of each individual and ultimately all passengers. We respect individuals’ rights to choose not to get vaccinated, however we would strongly encourage passengers to get fully vaccinated before the cruise, for their and the other passengers’ safety and well-being.
