1 December 2021

Attention OH SHIPPERS,

  • MSC Cruises South Africa today announced that all guests for its 2021/22 local cruise season must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in addition to the requirement to also take a PCR test before their scheduled embarkation date.

  • The measures have been put in place in light of the evolution of the pandemic ashore, including the new Omicron variant, and with the wellbeing of the cruise line’s guests as its number one priority.

  • MSC Cruises previously announced on 20 October it planned to welcome guests on board its South African sailings who had been vaccinated against COVID-19 as well as unvaccinated but that this could be subject to change dependent on possible new health measures made by the South African government, as well as the evolution of the pandemic.

  • Guests will be considered vaccinated if they have received the full set of COVID-19 shots more than 14 days before the start of their holiday at sea.

9 November 2021

Attention OH SHIPPERS,

  • All passengers, vaccinated or non-vaccinated, are required to do a PCR test 72 hours before embarkation at their own cost.

  • All vaccinated passengers need to provide proof of vaccination on embarkation – i.e. vaccine card or vaccine certificate.

  • All non-vaccinated passengers will be required to do an antigen lateral flow test at the port at their own cost of R300.

  • If any of the above tests fail (i.e. you get a positive Covid result) – you will NOT be allowed to board the ship.

  • Insurance for your cruise is mandatory. This insurance must include both travel and specific COVID-19 cover. A communication was sent out last week to all guests booked on cruises this season explaining the cover available via MSC through Hollard. Should you have purchased your own insurance please consult with MSC on whether this meets the requirements of cover. Please note the insurance is included in the booking and has been updated on your confirmation. The cost of the insurance is R61 per person per day.
